Todays Meeting

We had our transition meeting this morning at 8:00am...man that was early lol. We discussed her progress so far and what we hope to accomplish before her 3rd birthday. We will have another assessment in September to determine if she will qualify for the preschool program. We will set up a visit sometime before the end of the school year to meet with her teacher and visit the classroom. We met with her very very briefly today...she seemed very bubbly lol. Since we grew up here we are very unfamiliar with the school district. Anyway this is what her most recent evaluation said....

So at about 31 months here is where she is at.
"The Rossetti Infant Toddler Language Scale was used to re-assess Lex's communication skills. She demonstrated Interatction-Attachment skills at a 15-18 month level, Pragmatic skills at 12-15 months, Gesture skills at 18-21 months, Language Comprehension skills at 15-18 months, and Language Expression skills at 12-15 months. She met the previous milestone of 10 words/signs to use in a variety of expressive language functions. A new goal of using 50 words in her expressive vocabulary is recommended as a transition goal to prepare her for a pre-school setting in the fall. Once children reach a 50 word mark in expressive language skill, there is a greater tendency for word combinations to begin to develop since a larger expressive vocabulary has been established."

At 26 months Lexys measured the following...
Interaction-Attachment: 6-9 months
Pragmatics/Social Language: 6-9 months
Gesture: 9-12 months
Play: 9-12 months
Language Comprehension: 9-12 months
Language Expression: 9-12 months

We also discussed working on simple one and two word commands and learning about dangers. Lex does follow some commands but we want to work on more. My main concern is teaching her about dangers. To know she can't run out in the street and to stop, to know that the stove is hot and she can't touch, to know that she can fall down stairs and it will hurt her. We are working on these but she hasn't quite grasped the concept yet.
